New show starts on the 28th March at Mclaurin Gallery, Ayr. This is Visual Arts Scotland exhibition and my tapestry ‘Auld Stones And Thin Places’ will be there alongside other visual artists work. This piece was inspired by the chambered cairn called Cairn Holy near my home in Scotland’ s south west. The pillars stand strong holding the weight above telling the story of the people who came before us. I also think I was feeling the people who stand with us now #weavingfromapainting #wovenart #woventapestry #tapestryweaving #tapestries #madeindumfriesandgalloway #contemporarycrafts #arttextiles #handmadeinscotland #tapisserie #tapestryweavingart #britishtapestrygroup #gyllianthomsontapestries #abstractlandscape #tapestryweaversofinstagram #weavinglandscapes #abstractart ... Well this tapestry has ended up on the cover of this book. Although it’s the German publication I was honoured that my work was chosen. Well done @hanserliteratur for choosing a Scottish tapestry weaver relating to the subject of the book. Thank you and also @roof_music_ for creating the audiobook #bookcover #tapestryweaving #audiobook #tapestryartist ... See MoreSee Less

It’s been a while as life has been tricky lately but I’m on here now to tell you about my next show. @visualartsscotland ground the living landscape exhibition opens this weekend @kirkcudbrightgalleries .On until May so plenty of time to see it. This tapestry is 90x150cms a big one for me and completed last year. It was hard blooming work but it all paid off as I love it. She is called ‘I Am Here’ and is primarily about my journey through illness. She took a lot out of me and is presently the last abstract tapestry to date since my subject matter changed to weaving little portraits of females. I hope you like it and I’m so happy she was chosen thanks @visualartsscotland #britishtapestrygroup #tapestry #abstractlandscape #abstracttapestry #textileartforyourwalls ... See MoreSee Less
