The CAN Van is coming to D&G on 9th & 10th May! If you are a creative who would like to exchange or recycle materials or equipment then come along and bring your items to the CAN Van - a swap shop on wheels! Artists and makers are invited to exchange unwanted art materials and tools with fellow artists in the region. ![]()

CAN - Circular Arts Network is an online platform for redistributing spare, used or surplus materials, exchanging skills/ and coordinating transport. It's aimed at creative communities - artists, craftspeople, technicians etc - but is welcome to be used by all!![]()

CAN reduces waste and offers pathways for individuals, companies and organisations to support their local arts community by providing an opportunity for those working in the arts and creative industries a chance to reclaim materials or find resources for their latest projects or productions.![]()

Ends are sewn into little bunches before I apply the velcro. It’s then ready to hang onto the wall with a long baton of wood. You can see the final piece @springfling where she will be hung on my wall in my house for open studios at the end of May.Its a great time to see all the regions opens studios here in Dumfries and Galloway so you can see me weaving on my loom and my finished works. My loom lies empty. The second photo is the back of my tapestry on a table. I sort the warp ends then in the third photo you can see I have started tying them back. The last photo shows them all back onto themselves. I have to draw and paint before I can weave my tapestries that’s how it all starts. Very often I don’t weave a whole painting but I zoom into a part of a painting. This simplifies it for me as I seem to be unable to do that alone. I always want to paint an uncomplicated work but end up adding and adding. So I choose sections I like then weave from them this has always been my process and how I was taught at art school![]()

I have just been given the gorgeous news that I have SOLD this tapestry @whitehousegalleryscotland thank you Lynne .
